Obituary from the Fort Wayne newspaper, of January 22, 1917:

SOLOMON DULEY, one of the eldest residents of Allen County, died at 11 o'clock Sunday morning at Hope hospital, at the age of 82 years. The decedent was confined at the hospital for the past week. Mr. Duley was born in Ohio, but came to Perry township, with his parents when a boy. He had been a farmer during his early life, and he had resided in this county for the past 70 years. His wife died several years ago, and his only son, HARRY DULEY, died on the last day of the 1916.

The body was removed to KIlaehn and Melching parlors to be prepared for burial, and friends may view the remains there until Tuesday morning. Mr. Duley is survived by one daughter, MRS. IONA PRING and 6 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at the Klaehn and Melching chapel, and at 10 o'clock at the Union Chapel, 8 miles north of the city on the Coldwater Road, followed by interment at the church cemetery.

A little more about the Bowser history with Union Chapel Church.    Three of the Bowser boys married sisters.    They were daughters of Frederick Karager/Kariger.   The name has been spelled so many ways, it is hard to tell  what the original may have been.    In abstracts of the property it was mainly spelled KARAGER.

George, Henry and John Bowser married these sisters.     George's farm was the land where the church and cemetery are now located.     Early they gave 1 acre of the land to the church as well as the 1 acre that was for the Bowser school.     It was not until 1892 that we find an actual conveying of this land to the church although all of the abstracts of that day always made an exception of the acre for the church, and the acre for the one room school.     They were always excluded during the sale or exchange of the land.    The Bowser school closed about 1923.

Levi married Marie Nickerson in May of 1869 in Allen Co., IN

In the 1900 census he is still there at the age of 60 with Maria and Edward

Henry Bowser, Sr. came to Indiana where his descendants became the head of the Bowser family, well-known as Fort Wayne Manufacturers.   His first wife dying, he married again and located in Valparaiso, founding a second family, of which Lewis Bowser was the eldest child.

Seven children were born to Lewis and Elizabeth Bowser.   Arthur J. Bowser, Charles who died an infant, Edward L. of Kansas City;  Emerson L. of Gary, Indiana;  Emily Bowser Baum of Chesterton, IN;  Bessie Bowser Tobin of Argyle Wisconsin and Bertrand Bowser of San Francisco.

One John Bowser, made purchases from the Government for land in Allen Co.    On March 15, of 1837 we find that John purchased these two properties:

NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 in Section 19 of Twp 31N and Range 12E

            E 1/4 of the NE 1/4 in Section 19 of Twp 31N and Range 12 E.

It was reported that Henry J. Bowser purchased some land from the Commissioner of the Wabash and Erie Canal.    There is apparently a deed.     No date or place mentioned.
